Well, another episode coming right up.

On a side note, I only can post up these recaps at a slower pace, as my school is starting real soon. I will post up as much as I can during these holidays of mine.

Meanwhile, just enjoy!

Flame of Recca Epsiode 3 Recap

for_ep03-00

The episode starts off with Kirisawa Fuuko firing one of her wind power against Hanabishi Recca, and Recca fired his flames in retaliation.

for_ep03-01

However Recca’s flames were weaker and he got hit by the impact of the collision of the 2 powers. Recca crashed to the ground after the impact.

for_ep03-02

All eyes were on Recca as he seemed to be the only hope to challenge Fuuko. Ishijima Domon is badly wounded with Sakoshita Yanagi still unconscious from Kage Houshi’s previous attack.

Seeing that the wind power of Fuujin is stronger than Recca’s flames, Fuuko, being instigated by Kage Houshi, attempted to finish Recca off with one final strike.

Full of determination to get his friend back to normal, Recca fired his flames towards Fuuko’s wind attack and this time their power matched and cancelled each other.

The abnormal Fuuko was surprised, and Kage Houshi explained that Recca is beginning to have a grasp of the power of his flames, hence Recca is becoming increasingly stronger as the battle rages on.

Fuuko was excited about the prospect of a good battle, and launched her wind attack against Recca again. Recca dodged by jumping into the air, but Fuuko fired another wind attack towards Recca.

for_ep03-03

Recca fired his flames in mid air to cancel the wind attack while he was upside down. Subsequently Fuuko and Recca exchanged multiple blows against each other.

Fuuko launched a stream of wind attack in mid air, while Recca fired a stream of flames in retaliation, and we have a deja vu battle of a typical Dragonball series fight!

for_ep03-04

Fire against wind, and finally for once Recca’s strength won over Fuuko, his flames destroyed the wind attack which then proceeded to rage against Fuuko. Fuuko just managed to escape by the breadth of a hair’s length.

Fuuko steadied herself back on ground, but Recca immediately launched a counter attack. Kage Houshi immediately instigated Fuuko to not hesitate in her attacks, and Fuuko fired her wind attack against the approaching Recca.

Recca deflected the attacks easily, and upon reaching Fuuko, Recca aimed his flames at the centre of the artifact Fuujin.

for_ep03-05

The jewel at the centre of Fuujin cracked, and Kage Houshi realised that Recca found out the secret of how she control Fuuko.

Recca attempted to give one final attack to destroy the Fuujin, but Fuuko, in her abnormal state, tried to defend her “precious” Fuujin by summoning a cyclone as a barrier around her.

for_ep03-06

Recca was thrown off by the impact of the wind and crashed on to the ground. It looks like the cyclone barrier is impenetrable.

Kage Houshi was surprised, and commented that Fuuko has increasing control over her artifact Fuujin, but she noted to Domon and Recca that Fuuko had only 2 minutes to live. That’s because by being in the centre of the cyclone, Fuuko is not able to breathe properly due to the high pressure, and she will suffocate in there.

for_ep03-07

Domon was enraged by the news, and he tried to use his physical strength to break through the cyclone, but to avail. Domon crashed back on to the ground, but his determination, and seemingly affections for Fuuko, gave strength to his knees for another outrageous attempt. Domon’s fighting spirit impressed Kage Houshi.

Recca then tried to blast the cyclone barrier with his flames, but the cyclone barrier proved too strong for the flames.

Just when they are desperate, Domon noticed that the Recca’s cap was rising because of the wind.

for_ep03-08

The cap followed the flow of the wind, reached the top of the cyclone, went into the eye of the cyclone and rested gently beside Fuuko within the cyclone. At that moment Domon and Recca realized that the centre of the cyclone is most calm, and if they could somehow get on to a good height, they can save Fuuko from within the cyclone.

for_ep03-09

Immediately, Domon and Recca tag teamed, with Recca riding on Domon’s strong arms, while Domon used all his might to push Recca as high up as possible.

Recca was successful in getting into the eye of the cyclone, and he used all the might of his flame attack to break the curse of Fuujin. There was a mighty explosion upon impact.

The jewel in the centre of Fuujin broke, the cyclone stopped and Fuuko was saved. At this moment, Yanagi woke up.

for_ep03-10

However Recca used too much flames, and he burned up Fuuko’s clothes! Seeing Fuuko’s naked body, Recca nose-bled and fell.

Fuuko came back to her senses, but she saw that she was naked and was seen by Recca. Immediately she punched Recca, calling him a pervert. (Poor but lucky guy!)

Domon followed suit and punched Recca, calling him a pervert.

Last but not least, Yanagi called Recca a pervert.

Domon gave up his outer clothing for Fuuko to dress, and Fuuko doesn’t seem to realize what had actually happened.

Kage Houshi was pleased with the outcome of the fight, commending Recca’s, Fuuko’s and Domon’s potential as fighters. Kage Houshi was looking forward on how the trio will defend themselves when she unleash her next attack.

Recca was enraged that they were treated as play things, and the trio was determined not to let Kage Houshi escape.

However Kage Houshi demostrated her immortality before them, saying that she cannot be killed.

for_ep03-11

Kage Houshi took a knife and pierced it through her heart. Yanagi screamed at that sight, while the rest were very uncomfortable and disturbed. Blood flowed, but Kage Houshi wasn’t in any pain, and after awhile the wound just healed up.

“Dying isn’t something I can do, Recca,” said Kage Houshi.

400 years ago, in order to protect Recca, Kage Houshi used a forbidden technique of the Hokage Clan to teleport Recca into another time dimension. Since then, Kage Houshi became cursed by time and she can never die, although everyone else whom she cherished had to pass on. This agony and pain for 400 years nearly drove Kage Houshi crazy, but she managed to find Recca once again.

After saying all these, Kage Houshi disappeared, leaving the rest bewildered.

for_ep03-12

Unaware by the group, their fight was monitored by an unknown person.

Back to another day at school, Yanagi and Fuuko were discussing about the previous day’s events while walking to class.

When Yanagi parted with Fuuko, Yanagi spot Recca from afar, who was speaking to the unknown person that had monitored their battle secretly.

That unknown person introduced himself as Mikagami Tokiya. Tokiya enquired about the events that happened to Recca on the previous day.

Recca mistook what Tokiya meant and thought Tokiya was talking about the prank Recca played on the assistant principal. Recca was drawing on the assistant principal’s bald head while he was sleeping, and Recca begged Tokiya not to let anyone know about it.

for_ep03-13

Tokiya was silent, and Recca assumed that it may be another incident where he copied Fuuko’s homework.

Tokiya gave up asking, assuming that Recca was just trying to pretend that nothing had happened. Yanagi was wondering how Tokiya knew about the previous day’s events.

At evening, Tokiya went to a pool of water at a park.

for_ep03-14

Tokiya used a mysterious artifact, and made a blade of water from it.

At that moment Kage Houshi appeared, citing that the artifact is Ensui, and that it is one of the powers of the Hokage Madougu.

Tokiya was then taken surprise for the fact that Kage Houshi knew his name, and that she saw into her past before.

It was revealed that Tokiya lost her older sister, Mikagi Mifuyu, when she tried to protect Tokiya and the artifact Ensui from evil men.

Ever since then, Tokiya had thirst for revenge, and went about seeking the whereabouts of his enemies. Kage Houshi tried to instigate Tokiya in fighting Recca, and lied about the fact that Recca was trying to steal Fuuko’s Fuujin, which had similarities with Tokiya’s past as he lost his sister when enemies tried to steal the artifact.

Although Tokiya knew that Kage Houshi was trying to instigate him to fight Recca and claimed that he won’t be influenced by Kage Houshi, he had already decided to challenge Recca in his heart.

Back to Recca’s house, Recca began to question whether his dad’s wife really gave birth to Recca.

for_ep03-15

When his dad tried to answer, Recca gave a nice kick on his face for smoking while manufacturing fireworks.

And Recca earned a good beating for disrespecting his dad.

His dad was wondering why would he ask such a question, and asked if Recca is suggesting that his dad gave birth to him instead.

At that moment, Recca felt that he was being watched by someone. His dad dismissed those thoughts, and asked Recca to get cigarettes for him instead.

As Recca was returning home from running his errand, Recca noticed that someone really was watching him, and he began running away.

Tokiya then appeared in front of Recca. Recca was annoyed that Tokiya was following him, and if Tokiya was going to have a challenge for a fight, Recca said he would gladly oblige.

Tokiya replied that Recca is not a match to him. When Recca asked Tokiya to elaborate that, Tokiya attacked
and managed a kick on to Recca’s chin.

for_ep03-16

Recca was slid backwards by the impact. Tokiya just wanted Recca to answer some questions, and inquired whether Recca knew about the killers of her sister by showing his sister’s photo.

Recca blurted out “Hime”, as Tokiya’s older sister resembled Yanagi. That led to Tokiya believing that Recca knew something of his older sister’s death.

Recca tried to explain that Tokiya’s sister resembled Yanagi, but Tokiya believed that Recca was trying to hide something from him, and inquired about the whereabouts of his sister’s killers.

Recca launched a counter attack immediately, for he doesn’t like losing at a fight.

for_ep03-17

Tokiya unleashed his Ensui, and the water from a nearby pool responded to the artifact and formed a sword. Tokiya believed that it was Recca’s friends who tried to take his artifact away from him, which caused his sister’s life.

for_ep03-18

Tokiya and Recca exchanged blows, water against fire. As water puts out fire, Recca’s flames were put out and Recca suffered a cut.

for_ep03-19

I don’t know how, but when Recca screamed, Yanagi from miles away seem to have the 6th sense to sense it.

Yanagi deduced that Tokiya was trying to challenge Recca when she recounted the scene between Tokiya and Recca earlier at school, therefore Yanagi rushed to find Recca.

Back to Recca, Recca tried to ignite his flames, but it was easy for Tokiya to put out with his water sword, and Recca suffered multiple cuts.

Yanagi must have a “Recca” radar, for she knew where to find him, and could hear him scream. Recca was at the mercy of Tokiya as he was completely defeated.

Tokiya demanded the whereabouts of his sister’s killers, and Recca obviously do not know. Thinking that Recca was just being stubborn, Tokiya wanted to finish Recca off.

Yanagi arrived just in time, and when Tokiya saw Yanagi, he was distracted and blurted out “sister” to Yanagi. Tokiya dropped his blade.

for_ep03-20

Yanagi ignored Tokiya, and tended to the wounded Recca.

And stay tuned for the next episode.

Comments for this episode

The paradox in Flame of Recca is beginning to show here; where Kage Houshi is “cursed” with immortality, yet Kouran the antagonist is looking for immortality as a prize. The twists in the story makes me like Flame of Recca so much.

Yanagi really could smell Recca out at any time.

There are major differences between the manga and anime, but I don’t really want to explain so much anymore, because the differences doesn’t really matter anyway.
