Well, another episode coming right up.

On a side note, I only can post up these recaps at a slower pace, as my school is starting real soon. I will post up as much as I can during these holidays of mine.

Meanwhile, just enjoy!

Flame of Recca Epsiode 3 Recap

for_ep03-00

The episode starts off with Kirisawa Fuuko firing one of her wind power against Hanabishi Recca, and Recca fired his flames in retaliation.

for_ep03-01

However Recca’s flames were weaker and he got hit by the impact of the collision of the 2 powers. Recca crashed to the ground after the impact.

for_ep03-02

All eyes were on Recca as he seemed to be the only hope to challenge Fuuko. Ishijima Domon is badly wounded with Sakoshita Yanagi still unconscious from Kage Houshi’s previous attack.

Seeing that the wind power of Fuujin is stronger than Recca’s flames, Fuuko, being instigated by Kage Houshi, attempted to finish Recca off with one final strike.

Full of determination to get his friend back to normal, Recca fired his flames towards Fuuko’s wind attack and this time their power matched and cancelled each other.

The abnormal Fuuko was surprised, and Kage Houshi explained that Recca is beginning to have a grasp of the power of his flames, hence Recca is becoming increasingly stronger as the battle rages on.

Fuuko was excited about the prospect of a good battle, and launched her wind attack against Recca again. Recca dodged by jumping into the air, but Fuuko fired another wind attack towards Recca.

for_ep03-03

Recca fired his flames in mid air to cancel the wind attack while he was upside down. Subsequently Fuuko and Recca exchanged multiple blows against each other.

Fuuko launched a stream of wind attack in mid air, while Recca fired a stream of flames in retaliation, and we have a deja vu battle of a typical Dragonball series fight!

for_ep03-04

Fire against wind, and finally for once Recca’s strength won over Fuuko, his flames destroyed the wind attack which then proceeded to rage against Fuuko. Fuuko just managed to escape by the breadth of a hair’s length.

Fuuko steadied herself back on ground, but Recca immediately launched a counter attack. Kage Houshi immediately instigated Fuuko to not hesitate in her attacks, and Fuuko fired her wind attack against the approaching Recca.

Recca deflected the attacks easily, and upon reaching Fuuko, Recca aimed his flames at the centre of the artifact Fuujin.

for_ep03-05

The jewel at the centre of Fuujin cracked, and Kage Houshi realised that Recca found out the secret of how she control Fuuko.

Recca attempted to give one final attack to destroy the Fuujin, but Fuuko, in her abnormal state, tried to defend her “precious” Fuujin by summoning a cyclone as a barrier around her.

for_ep03-06

Recca was thrown off by the impact of the wind and crashed on to the ground. It looks like the cyclone barrier is impenetrable.

Kage Houshi was surprised, and commented that Fuuko has increasing control over her artifact Fuujin, but she noted to Domon and Recca that Fuuko had only 2 minutes to live. That’s because by being in the centre of the cyclone, Fuuko is not able to breathe properly due to the high pressure, and she will suffocate in there.

for_ep03-07

Domon was enraged by the news, and he tried to use his physical strength to break through the cyclone, but to avail. Domon crashed back on to the ground, but his determination, and seemingly affections for Fuuko, gave strength to his knees for another outrageous attempt. Domon’s fighting spirit impressed Kage Houshi.

Recca then tried to blast the cyclone barrier with his flames, but the cyclone barrier proved too strong for the flames.

Just when they are desperate, Domon noticed that the Recca’s cap was rising because of the wind.

for_ep03-08

The cap followed the flow of the wind, reached the top of the cyclone, went into the eye of the cyclone and rested gently beside Fuuko within the cyclone. At that moment Domon and Recca realized that the centre of the cyclone is most calm, and if they could somehow get on to a good height, they can save Fuuko from within the cyclone.

for_ep03-09

Immediately, Domon and Recca tag teamed, with Recca riding on Domon’s strong arms, while Domon used all his might to push Recca as high up as possible.

Recca was successful in getting into the eye of the cyclone, and he used all the might of his flame attack to break the curse of Fuujin. There was a mighty explosion upon impact.

The jewel in the centre of Fuujin broke, the cyclone stopped and Fuuko was saved. At this moment, Yanagi woke up.

for_ep03-10

However Recca used too much flames, and he burned up Fuuko’s clothes! Seeing Fuuko’s naked body, Recca nose-bled and fell.

Fuuko came back to her senses, but she saw that she was naked and was seen by Recca. Immediately she punched Recca, calling him a pervert. (Poor but lucky guy!)

Domon followed suit and punched Recca, calling him a pervert.

Last but not least, Yanagi called Recca a pervert.

Domon gave up his outer clothing for Fuuko to dress, and Fuuko doesn’t seem to realize what had actually happened.

Kage Houshi was pleased with the outcome of the fight, commending Recca’s, Fuuko’s and Domon’s potential as fighters. Kage Houshi was looking forward on how the trio will defend themselves when she unleash her next attack.

Recca was enraged that they were treated as play things, and the trio was determined not to let Kage Houshi escape.

However Kage Houshi demostrated her immortality before them, saying that she cannot be killed.

for_ep03-11

Kage Houshi took a knife and pierced it through her heart. Yanagi screamed at that sight, while the rest were very uncomfortable and disturbed. Blood flowed, but Kage Houshi wasn’t in any pain, and after awhile the wound just healed up.

“Dying isn’t something I can do, Recca,” said Kage Houshi.

400 years ago, in order to protect Recca, Kage Houshi used a forbidden technique of the Hokage Clan to teleport Recca into another time dimension. Since then, Kage Houshi became cursed by time and she can never die, although everyone else whom she cherished had to pass on. This agony and pain for 400 years nearly drove Kage Houshi crazy, but she managed to find Recca once again.

After saying all these, Kage Houshi disappeared, leaving the rest bewildered.

for_ep03-12

Unaware by the group, their fight was monitored by an unknown person.

Back to another day at school, Yanagi and Fuuko were discussing about the previous day’s events while walking to class.

When Yanagi parted with Fuuko, Yanagi spot Recca from afar, who was speaking to the unknown person that had monitored their battle secretly.

That unknown person introduced himself as Mikagami Tokiya. Tokiya enquired about the events that happened to Recca on the previous day.

Recca mistook what Tokiya meant and thought Tokiya was talking about the prank Recca played on the assistant principal. Recca was drawing on the assistant principal’s bald head while he was sleeping, and Recca begged Tokiya not to let anyone know about it.

for_ep03-13

Tokiya was silent, and Recca assumed that it may be another incident where he copied Fuuko’s homework.

Tokiya gave up asking, assuming that Recca was just trying to pretend that nothing had happened. Yanagi was wondering how Tokiya knew about the previous day’s events.

At evening, Tokiya went to a pool of water at a park.

for_ep03-14

Tokiya used a mysterious artifact, and made a blade of water from it.

At that moment Kage Houshi appeared, citing that the artifact is Ensui, and that it is one of the powers of the Hokage Madougu.

Tokiya was then taken surprise for the fact that Kage Houshi knew his name, and that she saw into her past before.

It was revealed that Tokiya lost her older sister, Mikagi Mifuyu, when she tried to protect Tokiya and the artifact Ensui from evil men.

Ever since then, Tokiya had thirst for revenge, and went about seeking the whereabouts of his enemies. Kage Houshi tried to instigate Tokiya in fighting Recca, and lied about the fact that Recca was trying to steal Fuuko’s Fuujin, which had similarities with Tokiya’s past as he lost his sister when enemies tried to steal the artifact.

Although Tokiya knew that Kage Houshi was trying to instigate him to fight Recca and claimed that he won’t be influenced by Kage Houshi, he had already decided to challenge Recca in his heart.

Back to Recca’s house, Recca began to question whether his dad’s wife really gave birth to Recca.

for_ep03-15

When his dad tried to answer, Recca gave a nice kick on his face for smoking while manufacturing fireworks.

And Recca earned a good beating for disrespecting his dad.

His dad was wondering why would he ask such a question, and asked if Recca is suggesting that his dad gave birth to him instead.

At that moment, Recca felt that he was being watched by someone. His dad dismissed those thoughts, and asked Recca to get cigarettes for him instead.

As Recca was returning home from running his errand, Recca noticed that someone really was watching him, and he began running away.

Tokiya then appeared in front of Recca. Recca was annoyed that Tokiya was following him, and if Tokiya was going to have a challenge for a fight, Recca said he would gladly oblige.

Tokiya replied that Recca is not a match to him. When Recca asked Tokiya to elaborate that, Tokiya attacked
and managed a kick on to Recca’s chin.

for_ep03-16

Recca was slid backwards by the impact. Tokiya just wanted Recca to answer some questions, and inquired whether Recca knew about the killers of her sister by showing his sister’s photo.

Recca blurted out “Hime”, as Tokiya’s older sister resembled Yanagi. That led to Tokiya believing that Recca knew something of his older sister’s death.

Recca tried to explain that Tokiya’s sister resembled Yanagi, but Tokiya believed that Recca was trying to hide something from him, and inquired about the whereabouts of his sister’s killers.

Recca launched a counter attack immediately, for he doesn’t like losing at a fight.

for_ep03-17

Tokiya unleashed his Ensui, and the water from a nearby pool responded to the artifact and formed a sword. Tokiya believed that it was Recca’s friends who tried to take his artifact away from him, which caused his sister’s life.

for_ep03-18

Tokiya and Recca exchanged blows, water against fire. As water puts out fire, Recca’s flames were put out and Recca suffered a cut.

for_ep03-19

I don’t know how, but when Recca screamed, Yanagi from miles away seem to have the 6th sense to sense it.

Yanagi deduced that Tokiya was trying to challenge Recca when she recounted the scene between Tokiya and Recca earlier at school, therefore Yanagi rushed to find Recca.

Back to Recca, Recca tried to ignite his flames, but it was easy for Tokiya to put out with his water sword, and Recca suffered multiple cuts.

Yanagi must have a “Recca” radar, for she knew where to find him, and could hear him scream. Recca was at the mercy of Tokiya as he was completely defeated.

Tokiya demanded the whereabouts of his sister’s killers, and Recca obviously do not know. Thinking that Recca was just being stubborn, Tokiya wanted to finish Recca off.

Yanagi arrived just in time, and when Tokiya saw Yanagi, he was distracted and blurted out “sister” to Yanagi. Tokiya dropped his blade.

for_ep03-20

Yanagi ignored Tokiya, and tended to the wounded Recca.

And stay tuned for the next episode.

Comments for this episode

The paradox in Flame of Recca is beginning to show here; where Kage Houshi is “cursed” with immortality, yet Kouran the antagonist is looking for immortality as a prize. The twists in the story makes me like Flame of Recca so much.

Yanagi really could smell Recca out at any time.

There are major differences between the manga and anime, but I don’t really want to explain so much anymore, because the differences doesn’t really matter anyway.

Well folks, the episode 2 is coming right up! I tried to change the wordpress template so that it is easy to read for users. Hence pardon me for changing the template so quickly!

Flame of Recca Episode 2 Recap

for_ep02-00

Sakoshita Yanagi was walking to school when suddenly she heard Hanabishi Recca calling her name. At first, she didn’t notice where was Recca, but she found out soon enough.

for_ep02-01

Recca was walking on top of peoples’ heads just to pass through the crowd. Domon’s head got stepped on by Recca on the way.

Upon reaching Yanagi, Recca immediately called her “Hime”, which means Princess, and bowed before her as her loyal ninja.

for_ep02-02

At first Yanagi was impressed, but everyone at the vicinity saw and heard that Recca became Yanagi’s loyal ninja. Immediately everyone thought that Yanagi must have completely defeated Recca in a fight, for Recca had sworn that the first person to defeat him will get his ninja services.

for_ep02-03

Yanagi became uncomfortable with the stares of the crowd, and ran away. Recca chased after her.

Afterwards, Yanagi and Recca were found under a sakura tree talking. Yanagi tried to deter Recca from calling her “Hime”, but Recca asked her not to be bothered by it.

for_ep02-04

Suddenly, Recca was picked up by Domon, and Domon demanded an answer to the rumor that Recca is Yanagi’s ninja. Recca replied in agreement nonchalantly, and he was flung onto a dustbin by Domon.

Domon was seriously agitated for the fact that he didn’t have a chance to beat Recca, and yet Recca had his ass kicked by Yanagi. Recca assured Domon that he wasn’t defeated by Yanagi. When Domon enquired further for the reason, Recca said, “Ask me again when you don’t have something hanging off your nose!” (Domon likes to wear a nose ring for some strange fashion sense.)

Domon was infuriated about Recca mocking his nose ring, and wanted to approach Recca.

for_ep02-05
for_ep02-06

Sad for Domon, Recca planted caltrops (an anti-personnel mine-like weapon) on the ground, and Domon was dancing in pain for his legs. (I really like this cute scene!)

Recca was about the leave the place with Yanagi, when he was reminded by the dancing Domon, “Do you think Fuuko will stay quiet about this?”

Recca paused for a moment upon hearing Fukko’s name, and he picked up Yanagi instinctively with his hands, and escaped the area.

Recca and Yanagi arrived at the roof of the school building to hide. When Yanagi enquired about who Fuuko is, Recca said that she is his arch enemy who has been seeking to defeat him ever since he was little.

for_ep02-07

A dart was shot towards the couple, and Kirisawa Fuuko made her entrance.

Recca was ranting and raving for the fact that Fuuko shot a weapon towards them, but Fuuko totally ignored Recca and walked towards Yanagi.

Fuuko stood before Yanagi, and after introducing herself to Yanagi, she gave a slap to Yanagi.

for_ep02-08

To Fuuko’s surprise, Yanagi didn’t even move, and she thought that the person who had defeated Recca would have been very skilled and strong.

Recca and Yanagi was trying to explain to Fuuko that Yanagi didn’t defeat Recca, but Fukko wasn’t given into excuses and she pulled out her darts in fury.

Recca was about to escape with Yanagi when his hand was pinned to the wall by Fuuko’s darts. It was then revealed that Recca and Fuuko had been fighting each other for 10 years, and Fuuko had defeated everyone else except Recca.

Fuuko was upset with the humiliation of not being able to defeat Recca, and she took it upon herself that she will make Recca her personal loyal ninja by defeating him one day. Hence, Fuuko pinned Recca to the wall so that she can challenge Yanagi to a duel, and if Fuuko wins over Yanagi, it should be counted her victory over Recca.

Fuuko was running after Yanagi with her darts on her hands, when Recca escaped from her darts and ran after Fuuko. Recca got a kick on his stomach when Fuuko turned around and unleashed a side kick.

for_ep02-09

However unaware to Fuuko, it was a distraction tactic for Recca to get hit, for he already launched his net while running after Fuuko. The net fell neatly in place over Fuuko after Recca was kicked away.

for_ep02-10

Recca finally was able to explain to Fuuko when he told her that Yanagi didn’t defeat him. Recca revealed that he became Yanagi’s loyal ninja only because he wanted to be.

Fuuko was defeated, and later Fuuko was found taking out her anger at a tree with her darts when Kage Houshi appeared before Fuuko. Kage Houshi encouraged Fuuko to fight with Recca, and presented the artifact, Fuujin, to assist Fuuko in defeating Recca.

for_ep02-11

Fuuko initially declined for help, but Kage Houshi demonstrated the power of Fuujin to Fuuko, and Fuuko was amazed.

A short snippet of the antagonists, Kouran and Kurei resurfaced again.

for_ep02-12

Kurei received reports of Yanagi’s healing power being demostrated, and he alerted Kouran over it.

At night, Recca received a phone call at his own residence. Fuuko was the caller, and she didn’t sound her usual self. Fuuko asked Recca to meet her at school, and when Recca refused, Kage Houshi took over the call. Immediately Recca recognised the voice of Kage Houshi, and Kage Houshi said that Fuuko and her will be waiting at school.

Recca was rushing to school, when Yanagi spot Recca while buying some snacks.

After arriving at the school, Recca found Fuuko, however she seemed not herself and appeared sort of drunk.

Fuuko explained to Recca that she can manipulate wind through the artifact Fuujin, and now she has an insatiable urging to fight.

for_ep02-13

Recca rushed over to her for the concern of her safety, but Fuuko was aggressive and blew him off with her artifact.

Fuuko acted like a maniac who enjoys hurting Recca.

for_ep02-14

Recca was asking what was happening to Fuuko, when Kage Houshi appeared beside Fuuko. Kage Houshi explained that the artifact Fuujin allows the user to manipulate wind power, but inexperienced users who uses the artifact will have an abnormal state of excitement and at insatiable desire to fight.

for_ep02-15

Recca was shouting to Fuuko to come to her senses and not use the Fuujin, but Fuuko began attacking using the power of wind.

I don’t know why but Yanagi seems to have the 6th sense to know that Recca is in danger, and she was running towards the school.

for_ep02-16

Recca was easily thrown towards the gate. Yanagi saw the seriousness of the situation, and ran away to seek for help.

Fuuko seemed to want to chase after Yanagi, but Recca distracted her into a fight, and he began his counter attack with his smoke bombs.

for_ep02-17

As Yanagi was running to seek help, Kage Houshi intercepted her, and knock her out. It appears that Kage Houshi was appreciative for Yanagi’s concern for Recca, and that Kage Houshi is wanting Recca to grow beyond the challenge of Fuuko.

Yanagi struggled and woke up for awhile, and cried for help. Someone came, and held her up.

for_ep02-18

Back to Recca, his smoke bombs obviously doesn’t work against Fuuko, as the gunpowder is easily blown away by the wind.

Fuuko chased after Recca, and attempted to kick him, but Recca jumped to the air and threw smoke bombs in retaliation.

for_ep02-19 for_ep02-20

Fuuko created a shield of wind, collected the gunpowder before redirecting it back to Recca. Recca tasted his own medicine for his gunpowder and was flung back.

Fuuko attempted to finish Recca off with her final blast.

for_ep02-21

Domon deflected the attack to save Recca. Domon revealed to Recca that Yanagi told him about the fight, and he came over to save Fuuko and Recca. Yanagi appeared to be unconcious under a tree.

Agitated by the fact that Domon and Recca totally ignored Fuuko, Fuuko launched wind attacks against the duo. Recca dodged, but Domon took it head on.

for_ep02-22

Domon was cut by the wind. Domon walked towards Fuuko, and Fuuko kept firing wind power against Domon, but Domon refused to dodge. Domon was cut everywhere in the process.

I guess Domon’s speciality is his tremendous physical power, and he just continued towards Fuuko while enduring the wind attacks. Recca shouted to Domon to dodge but he wouldn’t listen.

Upon standing before Fuuko, Domon held Fuuko on her shoulders, looked directly at her eye, asked her to snap out of her trance and cried.

for_ep02-23

Fuuko momentarily came back to her senses, being moved by Domon. Fuuko struggled against her desire to fight, and she cried out for help towards Domon and Recca.

Kage Houshi saw that Fuuko might return to her senses, and she resumed her mind control on Fuuko again. Fukko returned to her crazy self to fight once more.

This time, Recca was infuriated at the injuries of his friends and at the agony of Fuuko.

for_ep02-24

And finally Recca released his fire strength. (Finally…)

Fuuko and Domon was surprised that fire is emitting out of Recca’s arm.

So it was fire against wind for the battle, and stay tuned for the next episode.

for_ep02-25

Comments for this episode

Well the episode just ended off with that, and it wasn’t me!

And yes, the real action can only be viewed in the next episode.

The highlight for this episode is actually the chibi scene near the start of the episode, and when Fuuko did her wind shield. I thought the latter was pretty cool.

The rest is just building up for the story.

Anyway there are some differences between the manga and the anime of Flame of Recca:

  1. Yanagi wanted to be a children’s book writer, and drew Recca, but it wasn’t in the anime.
  2. There are some setting differences, like Domon flung Recca in the classroom, and not under a tree.

Beyond these differences, the rest is almost about the same.

Flame of Recca Episode 1 Recap

for_ep01-00

Today is the opening of my episode recaps for Flame of Recca anime! I’m really excited to rewatch the series and have a little review on it as the days go by. As promised, I will post up the links to the Flame of Recca video streaming at the end of this episode recap.

However I am not responsible for the videos, because I didn’t upload them. I will only help in providing links, but if the video ends up missing some time in future, I won’t be able to help it.

I like this opening song for the anime as the chorus was very catchy, although I know no Japanese at all (I am beginning my classes this coming Thursday!).

Flame of Recca Episode 1 Recap

for_ep01-01

The story starts off with a distant past in the age of ninjas and samurais. A lady carrying baby Recca was running away from a war and used a technique to open up a portal to allow Recca to escape. It was also revealed that Recca was to be the leader of the Hokage Ninja Clan.

Afterwards, the story swtiched back to modern times. Recca reappeared as a teenager and was found fighting an impossibly strong teenage guy by the name of Ishijima Domon (C’mon, which teenager could crash through a wall of bricks without a scratch?).

for_ep01-02

Recca was dodging and running away from Domon at the start, and clearly Domon was agitated with Recca for not confronting him to a physical fight.

Recca, standing on a tree branch,  replied that he just couldn’t get serious with Domon because of Domon’s nose ring, and Domon was infuriated! Domon then ran forward and struck the tree with his palms to knock Recca out of balance.

for_ep01-03

But alas, it was a body double that fell off the tree!

Recca escaped from Domon’s attack, and proceeded to counter attack Domon with fireworks bombs. Domon got hit straight on, but he was struck with the same trick before, therefore he didn’t seemed interrupted nor hurt.

Domon ran after Recca, smirking to the fact that Recca’s attack was useless, and suddenly he fall into a hole! It was a trap by Recca, and Domon accused Recca for using a dirty trick.

Recca refuted that accusation, and began reciting the theories of being a ninja. Domon was unfazed, and began mocking Recca concerning his ninja ideologies.

for_ep01-04

Recca punished Domon by lighting up fire crackers into the hole!

Recca challenged Domon that if Domon ever defeats him, he will be Domon’s little suck-up ninja.

Recca went home, and a short introduction about Hanabishi Recca was given. It also appears that someone was monitoring Recca’s movements through a crystal ball.

Recca was hungry, and he looked for his dad to have his lunch. His dad is a fireworks manufacturer, and Recca gave a good kick to his dad for smoking while manufacturing fireworks!  His dad retaliated back with a similar kick, and replied that he ate Recca’s share of lunch.

So far the story is just building the background of Recca, hence we got to be patient with the show.

A short snippet of the antagonists is revealed, Kouran and Kurei.

for_ep01-05 for_ep01-06

It appears that Kouran was looking for the secret of immortality, and Kurei was responsible to find “it”.

Back to Recca, Recca was eating his lunch, and he was so charmed by a kind and beautiful girl momentarily, to the point that he was pouring milk on his legs and dropped his lunch.

The girl was taking care of a group of young children, and they were watching some construction taking place. I don’t really believe that young children would be so interested with construction machines, but anyway that was happening at this point.

Recca went to seek the girl, and saw that an accident was about to take place when one of the vehicles lost control. Metal pillars were found crashing towards the girl, and the girl was using her body to shield the young children.

Recca saved the damsel in distress by doing his acrobatic jump, and pushed the girl with the children away while he got hit on his head by the metal pillars. (Yes, it is a typical set-up, I know.)

Blood was flowing from Recca’s head, and he passed out. However it seems that the girl has a healing ability, and she proceeded to heal him.

While Recca was unconscous, he saw a princess in his dream, and that princess was healing him too. Recca woke up from his dream, and found that he was healed, with many spectators staring at him. I don’t know why but he got up in a frantic state, and ran away from the scene.

The girl found Recca at a park and introduced herself as Sakoshita Yanagi. Recca was surprised that Yanagi knew his name, but found out that they were actually studying in the same school. Recca was musing that Yanagi looked exactly  the same as the princess in his dream.

Yanagi revealed to Recca about her healing powers by healing another of his wounds. Yanagi wanted Recca her healing powers to be kept a secret, for fear that she might be labelled as weird.

To show his gratitude for healing him, Recca brought Yanagi to a dark and abandoned warehouse to show his hand-made fireworks to her.

for_ep01-07

The little romantic and peaceful view didn’t last long, as Recca and Yanagi was attacked by a mysterious lady. The lady introduced herself as Kage Houshi, and it was revealed that she was seeking Recca for the past 400 years. She revealed that Recca was transported 400 years earlier into this modern dimension to escape the war that engulfed the Hokage clan, and Recca was the sole survivor of the Hokage clan.

Kage Houshi wanted Recca to create flames with his right arm for her to see.  Recca was unfazed about the story, and he didn’t believe he had the ability to create flames. In order to escape from Kage Houshi, Recca attempted to use a smokescreen to mask their traces, but Kage Houshi proved to be a veteran ninja by wounding Recca with a thrown dagger.

Kage Houshi resort to attacking Recca to force flames out of Recca’s arm. Recca was so weak against Kage Houshi that he was almost instantaneously defeated without any fightback, however Yanagi stepped in to shield Recca with her body.

Kage Houshi slashed Yanagi with a dagger, and it was revealed that though Yanagi had the power to heal, she cannot heal herself.

Recca was infuriated, and he proceeded to counter-attack by using a smoke screen. Kage Houshi thought that it was another usual smoke-screen, but Recca got a nice good kick at her side after Kage Houshi shot a dagger at the wrong target.

However Kage Houshi could manupilate and teleport through shadows, and she attacked Recca mercilessly with physical blows and cuts. Recca could not even retaliate.

Recca was pushed to the wall and fell on the ground. Kage Houshi walked over to the injured Yanagi and was about to put an end to Yanagi’s life.

for_ep01-08

Recca cried out helplessly with his arm stretching out to Yanagi, “No!”

for_ep01-09

In his anguish, frustration and anger, Recca’s right arm started to burn.

for_ep01-10

And flames were emitting out of his arms. Recca was surprised.

for_ep01-11

Recca couldn’t control it, and he fired his flames at Kage Houshi with a dramatic pose.

And to everyone’s disappointment to that spectacular display, Kage Houshi wasn’t even scratched. However Kage Houshi was pleased to see the flames, and challenged Recca to become even stronger before disappearing from the scene.

Recca then picked up Yanagi and carried her to safety. In the midst of it, Yanagi woke up, relieved to find out that Recca was alright and that their enemy left them alone. Recca started to call Yanagi, “Hime”, which means Princess, and swears that he will be Yanagi’s ninja to protect her.

Some additional comments

The story starts off pretty slowly and it is just building the background for a better series. The interesting fights will begin in latter episodes.

There are differences between the manga and the anime series.

  1. Recca didn’t get to eat at home not because his dad ate his share, but rather Recca took some fireworks bombs for himself to fight and his dad punished him by not allowing him to eat.
  2. Recca didn’t meet Yanagi by saving her from an accident; rather in the manga series Yanagi was approached by several guys, who were trying to pick Yanagi up, and Recca fought them off.
  3. Recca swore to himself to protect Yanagi not after meeting Kage Houshi, but before. He just felt like it, and after witnessing Yanagi healing a dog, he thinks that Yanagi is fit to be a princess.
  4. Recca isn’t surprised that he could create flames. In fact, he could create them as and when he will, but in the anime series, he was literally surprised and he didn’t know he had that ability.

This anime episode is actually chapters 1 & 2 of the manga series.

I took 3-4 hours doing this post. I hope by practise I will take a lesser time, or else it will be difficult once school starts next week.

For the Veoh version, you would need to register with Veoh and download its web player, or else it gives you a 5 minutes preview.

I watched it in Veoh though, and it is good!

For the Youtube versions, I didn’t put in links for the English voice dub, because it sounds off and horrible. The subtitles are okay, but not as good as the Veoh’s version.

As I am still preparing my materials for this site and organizing this blog, I will briefly reveal what is to be expected in the next few days.
Flame of Recca anime series will be the first anime review and also my first episode recap series for this blog. It will be challenging because I am going to recap every single of its 42 episodes here, while providing links to video streaming websites for this anime.
It will be time-consuming, but I do want to see how this turns out. If it’s a feasible project, I will definitely continue with it.

How am I going to review the anime?

I am not so sure whether I should be giving a summary of the anime series at the beginning or at the end of the episode recaps, but basically I will make the anime reviews simple and easily digestable for everyone to swallow.

The episode recaps should be a fun project. We will run through the episode together and have comments at the end of every episode.

Like I have suggested, I will try to post up video streaming links for the every episode that I am reviewing, but no promises! I do not have the time to painstakingly go through search engines just to get the links up.

Concerning the rating system, I already have an idea of what is to come, but I shall not reveal it for now. It will be known after gathering more materials for this blog.

Summary of the Flame of Recca anime series

This anime series was so interesting and exciting, that it got me to search for its manga series and I recommend it highly!

However sad to say, the anime series and its manga counterpart are not exactly identical; the 42 episodes is not the full story of the Flame of Recca, therefore there is a need to read the manga series to find out the second half of the story. Also there are some differences in how the story is told.

Overall, it is still a pretty good series to watch, and anyone who likes to watch or read Naruto, Bleach or One Piece, this is definitely for you!

Final words for this post

For my manga journey viewers, thanks for coming to see this blog! And for everyone, constructive comments are greatly appreciated!
